Horspath Church of England Primary School
Music

At Horspath music and singing are an important part of the curriculum.

Children have the opportunity to learn to play the recorder and violins during class lessons. There are also instrumental teachers who visit the school to teach guitar, woodwind and brass instruments.

Singing is taught within individual classes, as well as a whole school lesson once a week. We learn new songs to perform at various events throughout the year. These include:

  •    Harvest Festival
  •    Easter Service
  •    Christmas Production
  •    Wheatley Junior Music Festival
  •    Wheatley Infant Music Festival

In November 2007 a group of 15 children joined the Oxfordshire Massed Choir to sing at the Music for YouthSchool’s Prom at the Royal Albert Hall. This was a fantastic and memorable event for the children, where they not only got to perform in one of the country’s most prestigious venues, but they will also had the chance to listen to a wide range of music from all over the country.
